Open a Binjii account to be able to trade online.

UMAEU partnered with Binjii to provide a trade account to all its members to be able to access markets.

The Uganda Markets and Allied Employees Union (UMAEU) launched the Digital Trade Initiative, a transformative program designed to empower market vendors by integrating e-commerce into their trade activities. This initiative aims to equip UMAEU members with the tools, skills, and platforms needed to expand their businesses, reach wider markets, and thrive in the digital economy. With over 400,000 members, 70% of whom are women-owned enterprises, UMAEU recognizes the potential of e-commerce to unlock new opportunities, especially in the wake of challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this initiative, vendors will gain access to:

• Digital Skills Training: Practical training on how to use e-commerce platforms, manage online transactions, and market products effectively.
• E-Commerce Platforms: Partnerships with local and international e-commerce platforms to create online marketplaces for UMAEU members.
• Financial Inclusion: Access to digital payment systems and financial literacy programs to enhance business operations.
• Market Expansion: Opportunities to connect with buyers beyond their local markets, boosting sales and income.

The Digital Trade Initiative aligns with UMAEU’s mission to advance the social and economic rights of market workers, ensuring they are not left behind in the digital revolution.
